Abstract
Results of numerical investigation of the influence of an ultra wideband dipole profile on the input impedance and radiation pattern of bow-tie antennas are presented. A new bell-shaped planar dipole antenna is proposed for UWB communications in the frequency range 3.1-10.6 GHz. A printed design of the antenna has return loss less than -10 dB and gain>2 over the whole frequency range
