Abstract :
Although many good video coding algorithms for low bit rates have been proposed, none of them place much emphasis on hardware implementation. Hardware implementations should utilize low complexity video coding algorithms and have small memory requirements because high memory requirements increase implementation costs. In this paper we propose a very low complexity and high regularity video coding algorithm that is suitable for hardware implementation. The proposed video coding algorithm uses the 3D wavelet transform coding and is based on 3D zerotree theory. The coding memory required by the proposed video coding algorithm is also dramatically reduced to minimize the implementation cost
