Abstract
The graphical user interface (GUI) has been improved with the birth of a pointing device such as a mouse. Since it provides us with intuitive operation computers came to be used by many ordinary people. However, as the experience of operation is required, persons who are unfamiliar with the device have a hard time. We propose a new type of pointing device which is dynamically controlled depending on the environment and estimating the user´s intention. The operation feeling is evaluated by experiments with human testers. In general there exist many candidates of the target, which are buttons, intended by the user. As the system does not know which candidate is the goal of the pointing operation, it cannot actively control the movement of the pointer. If the system misunderstands the goal, the user will feel an aversion to the pointing system. The purpose of this study is the estimation of the pointing intention and the control of the pointer according to the recognized intention
