Abstract :
This paper presents an improved carrier frequency offset (CFO) estimator using cyclic prefix (CP) for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. The basic principle is to detect the sign of the CFO value firstly, which will facilitate the extension of the estimation range of the estimator. It is shown by simulation results that the proposed estimator can achieve a double CFO estimation range compared to van de Beek´s method [5] and hence to improve the performance of fractional CFO estimation.
