Abstract :
An E-wave in a waveguide filled with a conductive medium excites longitudinal conductivity currents. Total flow of this current through a cross-section is nonzero that means that charge is transported by a pulse E-wave. This phenomenon is studied in the paper using analytical technique based on modal expansion of the fields in the time domain. Volume conductivity charges created by a pulse wave are found. The problem of diffraction of a pulse E-wave by an interface of a conductive medium is considered as well. Behavior of transient fields and surface charges at the interface was also examined. It was shown that a pulse wave excites surface wave at the interface that results in transversal resonance with relaxation time much greater than that of the conductive medium
