Abstract
We summarize the recent research at NUS on metamaterials with permittivity and permeability both being negative simultaneously. The techniques for estimating effective constitutive parameters are presented. Some extraordinary characteristics on metamaterials are shown by examples. The feasibility of fabricating low-loss metamaterials in the microwave spectrum is brought forth and numerically verified.
