Abstract
An exact reciprocal formulation is proposed for the rigorous modeling of bolometric systems in transmitting mode, including the case of a bolometric detector in a multi-mode waveguide. The formulation provides an exact reversal of the bolometer operation from the actual receiving mode to the effective transmitting one so that all the parametric dependencies of power absorbed in receiving mode are reproduced identically by the power radiated in transmitting mode. The formulation of this kind allows one to compute, among other properties, accurate angular sensitivity patterns of complicated multi-mode quasi-optical detector systems by considering much simpler simulation problem of modeling the systems in equivalent transmitting mode
