Abstract :
The paper addresses the options of simplified models for estimation of power shortage in electric power systems. The models are employed in the software package for EPS reliability analysis that was developed at Energy Systems Institute. The feasibility of combining the sequential optimization procedures used earlier has been studied in terms of one criterion, i.e. determination of the minimal total power shortage in the system with its subsequent allocation proportionally to the loads in the nodes. The results of the experimental calculations are presented. They illustrate the efficiency of such a combination in terms of minimization of computational time on the model. The model with quadratic (in the value of power transmitted) power losses in transmission lines has been theoretically studied. It is proved that the model of power shortage estimation for this case has the form of a convex programming problem.
