Abstract :
Our experiences with the BERKOM MMT protocol stack are reported. The MMT protocol stack is aimed at multimedia data communications. It consists of the ST-II protocol at the network layer and a modified version of the XTP protocol called XTP-Lite at the transport layer. The specific features of the protocol stack are presented and the implementation in a SUN environment is detailed. Related performance measurements are also given to support our conclusions. The protocol stack is the core of the BERKOM multimedia transport system (MMTS). The MMTS is designed for communication between distributed multimedia applications on top of broadband ISDN networks
