Abstract :
The paper presents results of a study of the localization of charge carriers on defects of isolated polymer chains and in assemblies of ordered chains. The discussion is based on the kinetic approach, already employed in earlier papers. A reversible creation and annihilation of traps in one-dimensional systems should result in a reversible modulation of the effective mobility of charge carriers, making possible the operation of a molecular optoelectrical switch.
