Abstract
A suitable location for noninvasive measurements of the human body and, in particular, the chemical components of blood has been sought. The finger is a logical choice due to the fact that it is well infused with blood, contains no body parts which are particularly sensitive to radiation, and is readily accessible. The authors report on research in progress toward establishing an electrical model of the finger in the frequency range 0.5-100 MHz. Several electrode configurations have been examined which vary in the relative contributions from skin impedance and flesh impedance. A good correlation between the model and measured data has been observed. The low-frequency values also show agreement with previously published data.<>
