Abstract :
A 60 GHz Impulse Radio (IR) communications system has a simple architecture and operates at low power levels, thus it is a promising technology for future very high speed wireless networks. A signal detection method with noise suppression based on sparse signal representation is proposed in this paper. Because of the low duty cycle and spike-like characteristics of 60 GHz IR signals, an overcomplete dictionary is employed. Guidelines to construct this dictionary for signals on AWGN channels are presented. Results show that the noise can be significantly reduced and the PPM IR signals can be detected directly with the proposed method.
