Abstract :
This article proposes an analysis of the high-frequency and wideband limitations of the differential amplifier caused by poor common-mode rejection, and suggests new microwave structures based on MESFETs to broaden the band of operation. In practice the coupling impedance of the differential amplifier and the cut-off frequency of the transistor employed are the determining factors for the maximum reduction of the common mode. The analysis shows that an adequate coupling impedance and transistor enable the wideband behaviour of the differential amplifier to be improved. Simulations implemented from an equivalent circuit confirm the new analytic approach
