Abstract :
We present two innovative fabrication techniques that increase the refractive index contrast of opal-based photonic crystals. To improve the structural regularity of the photonic crystals, the polycristallinity and the defects from stratification of the opals are eliminated by modifying the surface potential of the substrates.
