Overview of the implementation of the proposed European Radio and Telecommunication Terminal Equipment (R&TTE) Directive

This paper gives an overview of the development of R&TTE Directive proposed by the European Commission and goes on to look at the effect of the Directive on manufactures, regulators and end-users. Finally the paper looks at the implications of the R&TTE Directive on the already congested frequency spectrum. The paper is biased towards the radio sector where there is some controversy and concern regarding spectrum management and protection
