Abstract :
This paper, a novel half-folded antipodal slot antenna fed by microstrip line is proposed. A half-folded tapered slot and patch-like tuning stub is employed to achieve both wideband and low cross-polarization performance. For comparison, a reference rectangular slot antenna fed by microstrip line is also designed, fabricated and measured. As is reported, the operation bandwidth of this antenna is from 0.79GHz to 4.0GHz, which is about 5:1. Good, stable omnidirectional radiation patterns with low cross-polarization level, gain flatness of about 2dBi over the entire frequency range are also obtained.
