Abstract
At the request of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) C63 on electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) created a new Subcommittee, SC 7, to address the compliance of unlicensed personal communications services (UPCS) devices to the requirements of proposed FCC Part 15D. This paper provides a brief overview of the activities of C63 SC 7 to draft the standard, the requirements of FCC Part 15D, and the procedures developed by C63 SC 7 to demonstrate compliance, which are now contained in ANSI C63.17-1998
