Abstract
The angular spectrum backward propagation method has been proposed as another mean to numerically reconstruct an image from a microwave hologram, produced by the inteference between an off-axis reference plane wave and wave reflected from an object. The experimental verification has been carried out at a wavelength and hologram aperture size of 3.26 cm. and 148.48 cm. respectively. The quality of the image for object-hologram distance in the Fresnel zone is comparable to one obtained from the conventional Fresnel transform algorithm despite using a smaller processing aperture
