Abstract :
Planar antennas are of increasing attraction due to their easy conformal properties. To illustrate the efficiency of the characteristic modes in planar antenna analysis, the predominant four characteristic modes and associated eigenfields pattern of a square patch antenna with a finite ground plane are presented.
