Abstract
The ITRON Subproject is to define and promote a standard operating system specification for embedded systems. A series of ITRON real time kernel specifications has been defined and published so far. Among them, the μITRON specifications, which are designed for small scale embedded systems, have been implemented far a large number of microcontroller units (MCUs) and have been utilized in numerous applications. We describe the current status and recent results of the ITRON Subproject, after reviewing the design principles and the history of the ITRON specifications. Then, we discuss the future directions of the subproject
