Abstract :
The analysis and simulation of a buffered leaky bucket scheme are provided in discrete time which is representative of an ATM environment, where a fast packet switching technique is used based on the virtual connection of small fixed size packets called cells. Given the assumptions on the cell arrival process, the token generated process and the cell transmission process respectively, a general four dimensional leaky bucket model is described. A one dimensional Markov chain model is established to greatly simplify the analysis and simulation of leaky-bucket rate-based control systems
