Abstract
ODMRP protocol is a typical Mesh-based multicast protocol with high performance for MANET, but its poor scalability limits the application of it in large scale networks. To overcome this limitation, a dynamic zone based multicast routing protocol (DZBMP) for MANET is proposed. In DZBMP, the network is divided into overlapped zones dynamically which are mesh-based. Mesh structures inside each zone provide good adaptability to network topology changes. Dynamic zone-based routing serves good scalability. The proposed DZBMP protocol is simulated and compared with ODMRP on OPNET. Simulation results show that DZBMP performs better than ODMRP on the aspects of communication overhead and forwarding efficiency when the size of multicast group grows up.
