  • Abstract
A simultaneous multichannel photonic frequency up-conversion based on an electro-absorption modulator (EAM) and an optical interleaver was experimentally demonstrated. 4 × 1.25 Gb/s wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) optical baseband signals were up-converted to the optical RF signals (fRF = 62.5 GHz). The receiver sensitivities of channel 1 at a bit error rate (BER) of 10-9 were -9.11 and -8.05 dBm for single-channel and simultaneous four-channel up-conversion, respectively. This photonic frequency up-conversion technique showed a negligible crosstalk for simultaneous up-conversion up to four channels.
