Abstract
With the rapidly developed wireless techniques, many wireless networks are deployed with widely varying characteristics. The complementary use of the heterogeneous networks bring a challenge of being always best connected (ABC). In this paper, we review this challenging issue, and present a novel best network selection (BNS) architecture. The design goals of this BNS architecture are simple, efficient, flexible and fully considering user preferences. In designing the quality function, we wipe off the occasional factors, but leak them to users, and use non-uniform quantization to achieve our proposed design goals. This architecture can be quickly deployed on MTs to fulfill the emerging issue of ABC in nowadays heterogeneous wireless system.
