Abstract :
The paper provides an overview of the original and the modified p-q theory of instantaneous power applied to improve the energy performance of three-phase AC system. The report also addresses the allocation of inefficient components of instantaneous power in the algebra of hypercomplex num bers, which are subject to further compensation with shunt active power filters.
