Abstract
To support applications with quality of service (QoS) requirements, such as video, audio, voice over IP and other multimedia applications in wireless networks, the IEEE 802.lie protocol is designed to provide differentiated priority QoS in wireless networks. In order to integrate with wide area networks effective, policy based QoS management architecture in 802.11e networks, which could realize uniform QoS in whole network, worth researches. This paper presents an efficient policy based QoS management scheme, called Policy-based WLAN QoS Management, and related proportional delay differentiated algorithm, referred as Arbitrary Channel Reservation, for 802.lie networks. In the new scheme, a hybrid type of architecture, combining the outsourcing and provisioning models, is used, most closely meets the requirements of 802.lie networks.
