Abstract :
A displacement indicator was built primarily for use in physiology as a myograph. An inductance, L, is provided by an electronic oscillator. As a metal gets either closer to or farther from the inductance, changes are produced in the magnetic circuit reluctance which, in turn, modify L and through it the oscillator frequency. In the end, the original displacement changes measured in millimeters appear as an output in volts. This proximity transducer was used successfully as a cardiac myograph.<>
