VegRisk: A Decision Support System for Risk Management of Vegetable Supply Chain

Vegetable industry plays a very important role in adjusting agricultural structure and increasing farmers´ income. But many new and increasing competitive pressures derived from opening market, consumer growing behavior and global trade patterns had a strong exposure that the vegetable sector faces many types of uncertainty and price risk, while few means can provide true protection from price risk to vegetable industry stakeholders. So a decision support system for price risk management across vegetable supply chain (VegRisk) has been developed by China agricultural University. Based on questionnaire and interviews, we analyze the decision problems and user needs first, and the architecture and development of VegRisk were described subsequently, some conclusions are given finally.
