Abstract
The authors present an autotuned high-performance digital speed control system applied to permanent magnet DC and synchronous motors fed by pulse-width-modulated (PWM) power converters. A cascade control scheme was chosen. The different aspects of the design process of the speed controller are considered and discussed. The optimal degree and the tuning of the RST digital controller, the identification conditions, and the noise effects are studied and illustrated by simulation and experimental results
