Abstract :
This paper discusses how Go/NoGo decision can be supported by human-interface for attaining takeoff safety within the framework of human-centered automation in which human is assumed to be in authority of decision and control. It is shown experimentally that a human-interface which issues a “Go” or an “Abort” message upon an engine failure is more effective than a conventional one that gives an “Engine Failure” caution. It is also argued that time-fragility of decision support message may affect trust in automation and self-confidence. An interface to visualize the time-fragility of decision support message is proposed. Characteristic features of the interface are investigated experimentally
