Abstract :
Summary form only given. All-optical add/drop multiplexers (ADMs) are necessary to increase the single channel speed and the flexibility of packet time-division-multiplexed (TDM) networks. We demonstrate an access node that adds, drops, and passes-through 100-Gbits/s data packets based on outputs of an all-optical header processor. Building on our previous off-ramp demonstration, we complete the ADM functionality by integrating the on-ramp component, which consists of synchronized lasers, a new packet generator, and packet routers. We achieve 10-dB switching contrast from the header processor and 20-dB switching contrast from the packet routers.
