Abstract
The use of models in multimedia applications is rather limited, mainly due to the inherent difficulty in characterizing image sources. In this paper a new model-based approach to video teleconferencing is introduced using recent localized history of the sequences to encode present frames. Due to the localized nature of the proposed algorithm, the encoding of a sequence can be organized in parallel where each area of the frame is encoded and decoded independently. It is concluded that the new approach could be instrumental in developing new systems and algorithms for video compression of teleconferencing
