  • Abstract
Electrical, optical and acoustic methods for partial discharge detection in a gas insulated substation (GIS) are simultaneously compared in a laboratory and their application during on-site testing is discussed. The sensitivity of these methods to detect and recognize different GIS defects is verified. The most common defects of critical sizes and very low apparent charge values are considered
