Abstract :
The aim to detect flash discharge is to find a flash in explosion-proof motors caused by high voltage and heavy current, when they are operated. Because a flash in explosion-proof motors working in inflammable areas always leads to detonation, flash detection has become an important measurement method to prevent danger. This paper reports the results of an optical and electrical system used to study flashes in motors. A comparison of discharge energy and optical signal of initial spark is presented. Minimum discharge energy which can lead to detonation is found in certain circumstances. The relationship of measuring distance and optical signal is also studied. The measurement shows that the system is better than the traditional method, and it can resist electrical-magnetic interference. The default can also be located
