Abstract
There are various kinds of sensor network implementations on the Earth. They are different with respect to the topology, communication protocol between nodes, sensor types supported, sensing value types, etc. In addition to these sensor networks, RFID and mobile RFID is the member of a ubiquitous sensor network infrastructure (called as USN in Korea). To share and use these resources effectively, some methods are needed to unify all these information resources and to manage various kinds of sensor networks. In this paper, we first introduce the ETRI USN middleware project and then define the sensor network common interface between the host and sensor networks as a sensor network abstraction technique. This sensor network abstraction technique can help wireless communication related industries to be deployed in a cost effective way and in a shorter time.
