Abstract :
In this paper the accuracy of time-domain simulation models for Adjustable Speed Drives (ASD) drives is investigated by testing and evaluating EMI reduction techniques using simulations. The models for Inverter, Cable, and Motor are simplified so that they can be easily parameterized with commercially available data and measurements. They are combined together into one simulation model and the results, regarding dV/dt and overvoltage at motor terminals, are then compared with measurements on a real setup. Further, several overvoltage mitigation methods are investigated and comparisons between simulations and measurements are conducted to prove the effectiveness of this models.
