Abstract
Miniature fiber-optic temperature and pulsatile pressure probes have been fabricated using an optical phase modulation technique. These make use of a Fabry-Perot cell that allows the light to be transmitted to and returned from the sensor along a single optical fiber. Probes with diameters <0.75 mm and length approximately 1 cm for pressure and 2 mm for temperature have been demonstrated. Resolutions of 10/sup -3/ psi and 10/sup -1/ degrees C have been achieved.<>
