Abstract :
The Millennium Dome is constructed on the Greenwich Peninsula in London as part of the celebration for the new millennium. The dome site occupies the area which had been used for industrial purposes. This resulted in land contamination and restricted redevelopment of the area. To make use of the area, the site has been cleaned and new services infrastructures, electricity, water, gas and telecommunications, have been provided in a new layer of inert material. This paper describes high voltage electricity supply for the Millennium Dome including site preparation activities. Electrical equipment, incorporated in the architectural design of the dome, has been installed to provide a safe and reliable electricity supply during a millennium exhibition and later to a new residential and commercial development on the Greenwich Peninsula
