Abstract :
In order to avoid the inconveniences and improve weaning from mechanical ventilation, the author´s propose a new mode of ventilation whose main characteristics are controlled tidal volume, decreasing inspiratory flow pattern, zero flow cycling, and automatic regulation from spontaneous breathing to volumetric controlled ventilation according to patient´s needs. A preliminary study has shown the ability of the device to adapt to the patient´s respiratory effort and breathing pattern.<>
