Abstract
Demonstrates that in looking at large-scale business processes, the major barriers to improvement are more often organizational and cultural, rather that technological. The paper examines the application of the concepts of cycle-time reduction and business process improvement to experience at National Semiconductor over the past 2 years as the company worked to reduce the cycle time of the make-to-market process.
