Abstract :
The final report includes the following topics; background research; project results; technical specifications; system block diagram; bill of materials; system operations; user instructions and troubleshooting; calibration; future improvement possibilities; and two appendices (manufacturer specifications for individual components and system calibration). The original task of the project was to design an optical instrument which could detect the presence of Perflubron and, if possible, measure its concentration. The long-term object of this endeavor was to provide Alliance with a way to measure the amount of Perflubron evaporating from a patient´s lungs over an interval of time
