Abstract :
Since 1951, for fifty years, music charts ranked musical recordings with selling. Those traditional music charts do not work well with the popularity of musical recordings nowadays because of huge impact of internet over music industry. A new kind of music charts is more and more popular, by which we call it as search charts or hit charts. In this paper, we choose this special music hit charts to study. First we took a series of analysis on the characteristics of music hit charts. Those characteristics of music hit charts are special thanks to the online user behaviors. Then we proposed a novel music categorization method on the basis of online user behaviors. The criterion of our method is to judge the popularity of each song with the variance of hits. In traditional commercial charts, music charts is influenced with economy. Our studies weaken the economy´s influence over music popularity.
