  • Abstract
The statistical scattering of breakdown voltage in pure sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) and mixtures with nitrogen (N2) in case of quasi uniform fields under lightning impulse (LI) stress was investigated under positive polarity in the pressure range between 0.54 MPa for pure SF6 up to 1.42 MPa for the mixture with 1% SF 6 content. The basic requirement for these investigations was to get the same dielectric strength with all N2-SF6 gas mixtures compared to pure SF6. First conclusions concerning the statistical breakdown behavior of N2-SF6 gas mixtures are drawn
