Abstract :
In this work the results of measurements of corona discharge currents of short duration positive polarity impulses in a wire-cylinder coaxial electrode system are presented. The aim of these measurements is to determine the initial data for a physical-mathematical model of the impulse corona discharge in air which are necessary for optimisation of the parameters of the installations for cleaning gases from harmful impurities. The oscillograms of discharge current were obtained for different voltage magnitudes in the range from 15 up to 35 kV for the voltage impulses shape close to the rectangular form with about 150 ns impulse duration. The quantitative data of current measurements expose characteristic features of current-voltage dependencies for impulse corona discharge, which should be taking into account when a physical-mathematical model of the discharge is being developed and the installations are designed
