Abstract
Summary form only given. Experiments using 4-wire brass (Cu and Zn) X pinches were carried out using Cornell´s XP facility with a peak current of up to 470 kA and 100 ns pulse duration. Time-integrated line spectra from the radiating plasma at the cross point were obtained with convex mica spectrometers and an FSSR. The results of the experiments, as well as the radiative properties of Cu and Zn in the K-shell and L-shell spectral regions are discussed. The time duration of the X-ray bursts of the brass X pinch was also obtained using an X-ray streak camera in direct mode with Be and Ti filters, and the results are presented.
