Abstract
A binocular stereo vision system is described. After preprocessing the aerial image pairs and resampling them along epipolar lines, our system uses an area-based hierarchical matching method to find corresponding points. Utilizing the absolute orientation, the coordinates of the matching points and their parallaxes acquired through stereo matching are converted to the actual position and altitude. The final results of the system are the recovered surface and digital elevation model (DEM)
