Abstract :
Summary form only given. We propose and analyze a method of reducing the effects of coherent cross talk in a WDM add/drop multiplexer by purposely introducing a delay between different cross-talk paths. For a 16-channel WDM system, this method reduces the requirement for the multiplexer/demultiplexer cross talk by /spl sim/10 dB for return to zero and /spl sim/5 dB for nonreturn to zero transmission.
