Abstract
Increasing interest has been seen in applying fuzzy set theory to controller design in power systems problems. In this paper, the design of fuzzy logic controller for STATCOM (static synchronous compensator) is based on the polar information obtained from the tie-line power flow. Time simulations are conducted on a four-generator interconnected power system. Computer results show the capability of the proposed fuzzy logic STATCOM in enhancing the dynamic behavior of an interconnected power system
