Abstract :
Narrow length distribution of raw CNTs, used for preparing the CNT paste, resulted in uniform heights of standing CNT emitters in dots, consequently giving rise to high emission uniformity over an area. Upon introducing a small amount of O3 during FE, long, Joule-heated CNTs were selectively trimmed in a way that reduced not only the overall heights of CNTs but also their height difference. Thus, O3 electrical trimming seemed to increase the number of working emitters to produce a specific emission current, considerably improving both the emission uniformity and the lifetime of CNT emitters.
