  • Abstract
This paper analyzes and introduces the relationship between the ground of communicating micro-electronic equipment and the working ground of an electrical resource and the protective ground against lightning. A traveling wave equation when lightning hits a building is also presented and solved. By applying the traveling wave equation and the electric magnetic field theory, a comparative study is made about the operation of separate ground and same ground. Finally, this paper suggests that the transient ground should be adopted for lightning-protection of communicating micro-electronic equipment, and the umbrella conductor lightning eliminator should be used as a principal lightning-protector to decrease the inductive voltage. It is also suggested that the traditional use of equal limiting voltage magnitude and isolation are used as auxiliary methods, so that a protective effect against general lightning can be achieved
